The Morning Wolfpack's 12 Strays of Christmas - Day 7 - America's Sweetheart

December 15, 2017

NAME: America's Sweetheart

AGE/GENDER: Juvenile (born 11/24/15), Female

BREED: Jack Russell Terrier Mix

TEMPERAMENT: Playful and mischievous

WEIGHT: ~10lbs

HOUSE TRAINING: Sweetheart is great at using potty pads! She prefers potty pads over going potty outside. Due to her neurological condition, she has a hard time transitioning from potty pads in the home to going outside. She still thinks outside is play time rather than potty time.

CRATE TRAINING: Good! She eats and sleeps in her crate. She is a vocal girl and will let you know when she feels that she should be out and about, but otherwise she sleeps through the night in her crate.

OTHER DOGS: Good! She will need continued socialization, as she cannot read dogs very well and they can't always read her. But she loves to play with them and doesn't understand if they don't want to play back with her! Sweetheart has no idea she is a tiny pup and so needs supervision. Otherwise she loves to play and wrestle with all dogs.

CATS: Good! She is fostered with cats.

CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 12 and older

HEALTH: America's Sweetheart is very happy and healthy, but suffers from a congenital neurological condition that causes instability and lack of depth perception. She has a visible "bobble head". This condition may go away as she ages and her brain's electrical synapses connect, or she will remain a special little girl with a bobbly head. Her condition does not affect her playfulness or her ability to go on walks, etc. She would need to avoid stairs as she could possibly injure herself due to her lack of coordination. She can do a small flight of stairs without issue. America's Sweetheart will require a bit more supervision than your average pup her age, but otherwise she is a typical silly, playful girl! She also suffers from microvascular liver shunts, meaning that her liver doesn't filter out the toxins in the blood as well, so she will require lifelong supplements (Denamarin) as well as a low-protein diet consisting of a prescription liver/hepatic food and low-protein or veggies and fruits as snacks/treats. Sweetheart is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with 30 days of free pet insurance provided by Shelter Care.

HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find her a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!

With some sass and spirit this little Terrier mix likes to rule the roost, and certainly won't hold back to let you know when she thinks it's her turn to play. And for her, there's never a bad time to romp with other dogs or show a chew toy who is boss. Meet America's Sweetheart, a Terrier/Jack Russel Mix ready take on the world with a lot of pep and little human help.

America's Sweetheart is healthy and active, but was born several conditions that require human support to help her lead the super-pup life she loves. She has a neurological condition that causes instability and a lack of depth perception, and a liver condition that will require lifelong supplements (Denamarin) and a specialized diet. She has a visible "bobble head," a condition that may go away as she ages or could be lifelong.

America's Sweetheart will require a home ready to provide a bit more supervision than the average pup her age, a prescribed diet, and guidance when other dogs are done playing. If your life is due for a dose of spunk, and you're ready to help this little girl take on the world, then she's ready to take over your heart.
