Princess Leia from Star Wars--Carrie Fisher--Has Died

2016 has seen a number of high profile celebrities pass away including  David Bowie, Muhammad Ali, John Glenn, Prince and so many more.  Now today, word that actress Carrie Fisher passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 60.  Fisher had suffered a heart attack on board a plane from London to Los Angeles on Friday and had been in the hospital since landing at LAX.

Carrie Fisher was best known as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies. She waf featured in last year's "The Force Awakens," and even appeared in this month's "Rogue One," using digital footage from the original trilogy.  Born into show business, her father was Eddie Fisher, one of the most popular singers of the 1950s and her mother is the legendary singer & actress Debbie Reynolds.

A spokesman for her familly, Simon Halls issued a statement from Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd: “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
